Presents a Special Report
Novartis Austria Kills Animals
Novartis is a Swiss-based pharmaceutical company with offices all over the world. Novartis was created in 1996 through the merger of pharmaceutical giants Ciba-Geigy and Sandoz. Their headquarters is in Basel, Switzerland. This company (http://www.novartis.com) is one of the biggest customers of Huntingdon Life Sciences(HLS), as well as of Covance; both of these companies kill thousands of animals annually testing cosmetics, household cleaners, pharmaceuticals and other products. For more information on the campaign to stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty, visit www.shac.net.
Novartis has more than 3000 employees in Austria. Their brands there are Novartis, Sandoz, Gebro and Hexal. During the last years they have continued to reduce their workforce and currently they are closing down the research laboratory in Vienna. 250 persons have been sacked. Sandoz, in the Austrian town of Kundl, is the only worldwide producer of Ciclosporin, an immune-suppressing drug and the main cause for the big profits Novartis is expecting with the rise of transplanting organs in general and xenotransplantation in particular.

Acknowledgements The A.L.F. CIA, special task force on Novartis Austria (STFNA), appreciates the contributions of the following persons: Special thanks to Julia Ager, Gerold Krischker, Birgit Wandrak, Petra Heidler and others responsible for corporate communications. Thank you to the IT department of Novartis Austria, especially Roland Felnhofer and Ruedi Ulli . A company that hires IT staff like them cannot be wrong. Agent "Tosser" provided more company data than any other source. The A.L.F. CIA is indebted to him. He knew that we had hit a gold mine. Confronted with the impossible task of identifying all candidates for exposure, his great achievement occupied him. He worked like a madman for weeks, combed the files and drew up multiple lists of all the staff. "Tosser" is a legend. ( Agent Jean Vries, controller of "Tosser")
